Recommendations in Accord, NY
Food and Drink
Reservations are recommended. Always check the website or call ahead of time because business hours change seasonally.
Innes Resort
Fine dining minutes from the house. It’s brand new, beautiful, and delicious.
The Roost
About a 10 minute drive. A real crowd pleaser. My favorite breakfast spot. Great for dinner too.
Stone House Tavern
Cute and cozy fireside dining. Just a 6 minute drive from the house. Great food and good drinks. Sulphuric water so if you wash your hands in the bathroom be ready for it.
Rough Cut Brewery
A great spot for dinner or drinks. They have bar and restaurant seating. Nice pub style food. Reliably good.
Westwind Orchard
Cidery but they have great beer and food too! I love this spot. If you go on a day that it is nice out you won’t want to leave. They have lots of outdoor fire pits, live music, and all around great vibe. Food is amazing. Just up the road from Arrowood Farms Brewery.
Arrowood Farms Brewery
A brewery and distillery with food. This is a super weird recommendation. Great ambiance and fine cocktails. Limited food menu. It’s a great spot on a beautiful day.
Grocery
Accord Market
A cute market a half mile from the house. It’s expensive but has all the essentials and fine organic products. They also have a selection of pre-made foods if you want to grab something.
My Market in Stone Ridge
This is a bigger store with a wide selection of things. Go here if you are going grocery shopping for the weekend. A drugstore, petstore, and wine store are also in this plaza.
High Falls Food Co-op
This is a small, charming, locally sourced cooperative open to the public. They have all the basics and notably fabulous produce, organic & local meats, a variety of bulk dry goods including coffee, teas, spices, pre-made sandwiches, salads, and spreads, and fresh flowers.
Saunderskill Farm Market
This remarkable farm is a cornerstone of Accord’s heritage. It’s been continuously farmed by the same family since 1680. The spacious indoor farm market is under a 5 minute drive from the house. Fresh produce right from the field, a bakery with MTO breakfast, oatmeal bar, large selection of packaged sandwiches, soups, and salads, basic staples, honey, locally produced body products, Saunderskill fan club apparel, an entire garden center, corn maze, hay rides, pick your own apples/berries, craft fair and vendors. With all that going on it’s hard to believe it’s a pretty chill place if you get there early enough. There is indoor seating with a fireplace or outdoor seating in a lovely garden. It’s seasonal AF, as all the good things are, so be sure to check the website for hours and information.
Kelder's Farm
Another wonderful local farm market just up the road with many of the same features as Saunderskill. Additionally, they have some kind of giant trampoline thingie, mini golf, and occasional live music.
Hiking
Lake Minnewaska - A gem of New York! 10 minutes from the house. It’s one of my favorite places to open water swim, hike, and picnic. One loop around the lake is about 2.3 miles (if you don’t get lost). There are dramatic cliff views where the view opens up over the lake to a direct shot of the Catskill Mountain Range. Miles and miles of trails surround the lake and include a variety of terrain from well manicured carriage roads to rugged single track. Park up top to go to the lake. Park in the lower lot for Awosting Falls. There is an entry fee. They take cards and cash.
Peterskill State Park is an amazing place but never at the top of my list if you can only go on one hike during your visit. It’s like a solid second place. If you can’t get into Minnewaska, try here! There is a super cool roaring creek and all kinds of fun terrain. Warning! This hike starts with a downhill so you will end on an uphill! Worth it though.
Mohonk Preserve - Home of Rock the Ridge. Great trails, well maintained, beautiful views. Also a bit expensive and limited parking. Worth it if you can swing it. You can experience super interesting terrain like Giant’s Workshop, Humpty Dumpty, Lemon Squeeze, Bonticou Crag, and Split Rock.
The Rail Trail - This trail is flat and mildly scenic. It’s just around the corner from the house (put Accord town hall in your gps). Great if you are looking for a quick walk off the road.
There is so much more to explore beyond the boarders of Accord. I recommend picking up a local guide to see what's new and what local events are happening. Nearby towns to explore include:
